As a child there is a time in our lives that we reach an age where we leave the nest. This happened to me when I was 18 years old because I chose to join the Army. But something that I have grown to learn that is as children we don’t realize what our parents have given up to support us.So as you all know, my patents just made the long journey up here to Pennsylvania from Texas. For weeks on end, my dad packed up everything they own into a huge U-Haul truck to move up here to be closer to my brother and myself.
As I came over to my brother Michael & his family on Tuesday Nov 20, 2012. We all patiently awaited the arrival of the ‘rents.’ Michael, Janine and their daughter, Erica (niece) hung out and spent some quality time together. It was a much-needed because even though they live in PA, they are 4 hours away from where I live.
So Wednesday morning I woke up to find out that my parents were in the area of Newport, PA. Michael and I hopped into his truck to go meet them and guide them to his house. I was filled with excitement for I haven’t seen my parents in over a year.
Once Michael and I got the ‘rents’ to the house, they I bet were so relieved just to be there with their two kids, possibly as much as Michael and I were glad to have them there with everything they own, knowing they are now PA residents.
After a long drive I’m sure pictures were the last thing my parents wanted, however as my father’s daughter, I was clicking away. So my dad finally got out of the truck and needless to say so many happy tears from dad and myself were shed while much-needed hugging was going on. I felt like I hadn’t seen him is sooo long.
Thursday was Thanksgiving Day, so my sister-in-law Janine cooked a wonderful meal for everyone. I was so thankful to have my family finally in PA to celebrate & give thanks with one another. I didn’t get any pictures of the actual mean, but here is a plate of leftovers that we ate for days after. Needless to say that I got to spend some much-needed time with my family. Then it snowed! Just for my parents!
So that’s it for now. I will close for now, but I would like to say how nice it feels to only have my parents be 4 hours away instead of 22 hours. I am so happy that they are finally here and I can just drive over and see them often. I am so Thankful for 2012 Thanksgiving!

That’s so wonderful, Jenn!! I’m a daddy’s girl, too, and I’m so glad to have him nearby so I can bug him.
Hope you had a great holiday!
