Birthday Parties, Army Training, & Preperation for a BIG Move!

8 Nov

Time flies by so fast.  I can’t believe that it is November already.  I know that life gets busy sometimes, but that is no reason for me to almost completely stop blogging.  So here I go again!

Lets start by my month of October. I went with my SIL  (Cassie) with her to get her hair cut and styled from a wonderful hairdresser.  Cassie and I don’t get to spend much time together just us girls, but when we do it feels so much needed.  I have been talking about cutting my hair for almost a year.  Cassie is mostly the one that hears this because we are so close, which I love!  So she asked me earlier that day if I wanted to take her hair appointment at 6:00pm because she was changing hers to 4:30pm.  I told her sure, I was just going to get a trim. Huh- Yeah Right! I ended up cutting off 12 inches without telling Ashley! :p OOPS!  How did that happen?  I mean the scissors just slipped into the hairdressers fingers and snip!  It was gone! As shocked as I was from it being gone it was such a weight off my shoulders.  It felt so light.  Who knew that hair could be heavy?  Anyhow I love my haircut!  When Cassie and I got back to her place, Ashley was over with his mom visiting with his brother.  When Cassie walked in I had handed her my 12″ pony that was no longer attached to my head!  He open the bag and said, “Oh, Gosh Jenn!”  But when I walked around the corner, he kind of had this crooked smile on his face, but kind of said that I met him 1/2 way by not chopping it all off and leaving some length to it. So what do you think? I have donated my 12″ to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  It feels so good to do a good deed!  What good deed have you done lately?

As a Soldier in the Army I train with the others in my unit one weekend of the month. So October’s drill was kind of short, but very busy for me.  I was allowed to take the later part of Saturday to attend my niece Annaliese’s 1st birthday party.  Her wonderful parents let me make some shoes for her to wear as part of her birthday outfit. I had so much fun making them and they turned out cute as ever!I’m such a daddy’s girleven at the age of 29! My parents live in Texas so I don’t get to see them much, however I speak to them almost everyday.  It gets lonely sometimes because I don’t have any of my family around close (within 2 hrs).  Although I do have a brother, Michael, and his family of wife, Janine, and her two kids Erica & Cody who live over above Pittsburg, PA.  So they are about 4 hours away which is nice.   My niece Erica is a senior in high school this year and is a fantastic cheerleader.  She had asked if Ashley and I would go to her Senior Night Football game where she and her parents would walk her across the football field being recognized.  Ashley and I went over and had a blast with the family!  We had talked about my dad and Michaels mom (my stepmom) moving up here to PA and how we were going to do this all over some much needed Mexican food!

So now that October is all over, now I’m focusing on getting my parents up here from Texas.  I am almost in disbelief that my parents will be residents of PA in about 2 weeks or sooner.  I sit here and offten get excited & emotional at the same time about what it is going to be like when I see my parents for the first time in over a year.  It is going to be such a different feeling because this time they are not going to back to Texas.  They will be ONLY a 4 hour drive away from me.  It is such a relief to know that I won’t have to buy a way too expensive plane ticket or drive 21 hours to go home and see my parents.  I can almost feel the burst of tears that I’m going to cry of pure happiness when I hug them knowing that they have overcome one of the biggest moves in their lives.  I can almost picture what it will look like.

This feeling reminds me of my return home from my 1st deployment to Iraq in 2005.  I can remember how I felt, what my dad smelled like, and the taste of both of our salty tears pouring down our faces as we hug eachother so tight knowing we are together again. Wow, I can’t wait for them to get up here already.

Knowing that the month of November is all about being Thankful, here are some things that I am thankful for.

1.I am thankful for a wonderful marriage to my best friend.
