This past week has flown by, without blogging. Time to fill you in on what I have been up to. Once a month I have Army Reserve duty. Oh what fun it is. I had been assigned as Platoon Sergeant and released a month later. This was good news to my ears as this was a temporary as temporary could be! Now I’m back to my home, maintenance platoon! So the weekend of September 15th & 16th was very busy. As sleep deprived as I get during drill and work, this was the reason I didn’t blog. There is only so much time in a day however I needed sleep to be productive.
Needless to say that as my last week went along, I received some good news from my sister-in-law, Janine. My older step-brother Michael & his wife Janine took a business trip to Texas. During this trip they met up with my dad & step-mom and had lunch at Desperado’s Mexican Restaurant down on lower Greenville Ave. That is where the conversation came up of having my dad & step-mom move up to PA to be near us kids. Michael lives about 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh and I live 45 minutes south of Harrisburg which puts the area of our parents to move in between the both of us. I found out while visiting with my SIL when I got the text message of pure happiness. I know this will take time to happen, this is a huge move for anyone. But the overall outcome is that I need my dad near me. This just tickled me to death. I was speechless and started crying when I found out. This just means so much to me. I miss my parents so much. I don’t know what I would do without my parents.
My SIL (Cassie) told me about a 5K that Sabrina and I ran in this past Saturday. The race was local, Peace For Paws put on by the Better Days Animal League. Although I didn’t run it in what I know I could have, I still ran it with my Bri Bri. For some reason Sabrina and I were kind of out of place. Bri is used to running on my left and toward traffic and for the race we had to run on the right. She was still on my left, but when all the other runners passed us, she wanted to check them out. She kept trying to run on my right, but knows better. I kept treats in my pocket but they didn’t seem to work to well. This just means one of two things, either we need more races where dogs are allowed or she and I just stick to running by ourselves. I have added a few pictures of our run. I am just proud that I got to run with my running buddy, Bri (Sabrina) & show her off. I was told by several individuals what a calm & good girl she was!
We had a blast & I can’t wait to do the next one! A big thanks goes out to Cassie for suggesting it.
